Asymptotic normality of test statistics under alternative hypotheses

چکیده
The aim of this paper is to present a framework for asymptotic analysis of likelihood ratio and minimum discrepancy test statistics. First order asymptotics are presented in a general framework under minimal regularity conditions and for not necessarily nested models. In particular, these asymptotics give sufficient and in a sense necessary conditions for asymptotic normality of test statistics under alternative hypotheses. Second order asymptotics, and their implications for bias corrections, are also discussed in a somewhat informal manner. As an example, asymptotics of test statistics in the analysis of covariance structures are discussed in detail. © 2008 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Testing for one-sided alternatives in nonparametric cen- sored regression
Assume we have two populations satisfying the general model Yj = mj(Xj)+εj , j = 1, 2, where m(·) is a smooth function, ε has zero location and Yj is possibly right-censored. In this paper, we propose to test the null hypothesis H0 : m1 = m2 versus the one-sided alternative H1 : m1 < m2. We introduce two test statistics for which we obtain the asymptotic normality under the null and the alterna...
متن کاملLikelihood Ratio Tests in Reduced Rank Regression with Applications to Econometric Structural Equations
Likelihood ratio criteria are developed for hypotheses concerning multivariate regression matrices when reduced rank is assumed or equivalently hypotheses concerning linear restrictions on regression matrices. In an econometric simultaneous equation model a single restriction may be called a ”structural equation.” A model of reduced rank in statistics is often termed a ”linear functional relati...
متن کاملSimultaneous test procedures in terms of p-value copulae
At least since Gabriel (1969), a broad class of multiple comparison procedures, socalled simultaneous test procedures (STPs), is established in the statistical literature. Elements of an STP are a testing family (H, T ), consisting of a set of null hypotheses and corresponding test statistics, and a common critical constant cα. The threshold cα with which each of the test statistics has to be c...
متن کاملSome Asymptotic Results of Kernel Density Estimator in Length-Biased Sampling
In this paper, we prove the strong uniform consistency and asymptotic normality of the kernel density estimator proposed by Jones [12] for length-biased data. The approach is based on the invariance principle for the empirical processes proved by Horváth [10]. All simulations are drawn for different cases to demonstrate both, consistency and asymptotic normality and the method is illustrated by ...
متن کاملAsymptotic expansions of the null distributions of test statistics for multivariate linear hypothesis under nonnormality
This paper is concerned with the distributions of some test statistics for a multivariate linear hypothesis under nonnormality. The test statistics considered include the likelihood ratio statistic, the Lawley-Hotelling trace criterion and the BartlettNanda-Pillai trace criterion, under normality. We derive asymptotic expansions of the null distributions of these test statistics up to the order...
